On Friday, June 25th, 2021 International University organized a graduation ceremony for its 13th generation of graduates. Respecting all the epidemiological measures imposed by the Covid-19 pandemic, the University held the ceremony in 4 separate sessions. The opening speech was given by the IUS Rector Prof. Dr Ahmet Yıldırım who congratulated the graduates on their success achieved under extraordinary circumstances quoting that nothing good in life comes easy and that best things take effort. Commenting on the challenges that the education sector has been faced with due to the pandemic, Dr. Yıldırım underlined that IUS reacted very quickly to this unexpected new situation and moved all its education activities online in a very short time managing to complete three semesters without any interruptions which is something that very few universities can achieve.

Perhaps many of you have not yet realized that these are historical moments and you have made history in your own unique way,“ the Rector told the graduates prompting them to be confident and brave and to try and serve humanity in a new world with the knowledge that they received. Ultimately, the Rector thanked all the students, their families, the academic and administrative staff at IUS and emphasised that the support of the SEDEF Foundation as well as the Board of Trustees was crucial for the success of IUS. The Ceremony was also attended by a distinguished guest, H.E. Sadık Babür Girgin, the Ambassador of the Republic of Turkey to Bosnia and Herzegovina who addressed the students and gave them a motivational speech.

The central part of each session was the address of the relevant Dean, Vice-Dean or program coordinators of each Faculty who called out the names of the graduates. Moreover, the Deans pronounced the best student of the generation for each Faculty and the valedictorians were generously awarded with scholarships for their second cycle studies. Ajla Ibrahimkadic, graduate of Visual Arts and Communication Design at the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences, was pronounced as the best student of the generation of the whole University.

The closure of the ceremony was marked by the graduates performing a spectacular cap toss.
